Meet the KCHS Staff
When you come to the shelter, the staff are the
first ones to greet you. Their voices are the ones assisting you on the
telephone. The staff put in many hours of hard work and dedication and
responsible for the day-to-day care of the animals who call the KCHS "home."
Dawn- Kennel Supervisor
Working at the
Humane Society is the most rewarding and fulfilling job I think I have ever
had. All of my life I have loved animals and have been concerned about their
safety and well-being. This job offers me the opportunity to help animals and
learn so much more about them. Knowing that we are taking in animals who need
another chance for a good home and finding their new families gives me a good
feeling. As I leave after work, I feel good about what I do every day and happy
that I can make a difference in the lives of the pets we have here and the
people who give these pets the opportunity to have a happy home.
Aside from
working here, I also come in on my time off to “play” with my friends. I enjoy
making their time here a bit more comfortable by giving them my undivided
attention. My children often come in volunteering to help and I love that they
also get to see what it takes to take care of these animals and become more
educated about the welfare of animals. Although I think some of these stories
are very heartbreaking, I believe it is an important lesson to learn and the
compassion we all share towards these animals has shaped us into caring people.
I would encourage anyone who loves animals and interested in their care and
comfort to come and volunteer whenever you get the chance. We have all kinds of
things for you to do here. It is a great and rewarding experience!
Zach- Kennel Assistant
The animal rights
activist Jeremy Bentham once said, The question is not, Can they
reason?, nor Can they talk?, but, Can they suffer? This philosophy is
much in tune with my own, and one of the main reasons why I work to help
animals. Working for the Humane Society has given me the opportunity to
help and love those who cannot speak for themselves.
I've always loved
animals and about eight months ago, I realized that I had to do more. So,
I started to volunteer here every week, and before I knew it, I had worked
through the ranks to become employed in the most rewarding job anyone
could ever have.
Mike -
Kennel Assistant
I must say that I have
one of the most rewarding jobs ever. Nothing feels as good as seeing an
animal go to a new home with a loving family. I am grateful to know
that I am making a difference in these animals’ lives. I just wish
people were more educated on caring for their animals so I wouldn’t have
to see this place full all of the time. Giving these animals a second
chance in life is the most important thing to me.
